Uploads for chosen roles
Under Uploading you tick which roles may upload SVG files – administrators and editors from the start. Every file is checked when it arrives, and a file that is not a real SVG image is stopped.
SVG – safe, sharp and in the right color
SVG Support lets you upload SVG images and cleans every file of anything that can run code. Pro decides per image how it is shown, lets the color follow the text – also in dark mode – and shows exactly what was removed from each file.
In WordPress the plugin is called Datoden SVG Support – in the DT-addons menu it is listed as DT-svg-support.
WordPress does not allow SVG files, because an SVG file can contain code. DT-svg-support allows them for the roles you choose and cleans every file before it is saved, so only the image itself is left. The images get the right width and height and can be shown inline, so they can be colored with CSS.
Under Uploading you tick which roles may upload SVG files – administrators and editors from the start. Every file is checked when it arrives, and a file that is not a real SVG image is stopped.
With Clean every file, only known SVG elements are kept. Scripts, events such as onclick, javascript: links, hidden HTML, external resources and harmful CSS are removed, and the image looks the same. Make the files smaller also removes comments and editor data from tools such as Illustrator, Inkscape and Figma.
Width and height are read from the file, so the page does not jump while it loads. Logos, featured images and previews in the media library work as with other images. Compressed .svgz files are unpacked to .svg.
Under Inline SVG choose Off, Images with the class (style-svg by default) or All SVG images. The image is then replaced by its code on the page – on the server, without JavaScript – so the colors can follow the theme or change with CSS. An image with the class no-inline is always left as an image.
Check the files goes through the SVG files in the media library, gives older files their size and finds files with content that should not be there. They can be cleaned with one click, with the originals kept in wp-content/uploads/dt-svg-backup/. If SVG Support is installed, one button takes over its settings and turns it off.
In the media library, every SVG gets an On the page field: As in the settings, Inline, Inline – color follows the text, or Always as an image. With Inline – color follows the text, the image takes the color of the text around it, also in dark mode, without writing any CSS. The choice applies wherever the image is used.
In the block editor, pick an SVG in the SVG icon block and set the size, a color or Color follows the text, and what the image shows for screen readers. The same works in themes and page builders with the [datoden_svg] shortcode.
The cleaning log on the settings page shows the 50 latest uploaded SVG files: who uploaded them, what was removed and which files were stopped. The same report shows under Cleaned in each image's details.
Everything without a Pro label works for free. What is marked Pro is included in the Pro version.
After installing – how to set up SVG Support.
Go to DT-addons → DT-svg-support in the WordPress menu. Changes save by themselves.

If the website already has SVG files, click Check the files. Coming from SVG Support? Use Move from SVG Support.
Choose Images with the class or All SVG images under Inline SVG if the images should be colorable. With Pro you can choose per image under On the page instead.
